DOORS – Dreams of Oak Ridge Students is a nonprofit landscape organization aimed at helping at-risk youth in Oak Ridge Tennessee earn money, work experience, and independence training to get them into college.
In 2022, during his junior year at the University of Tennessee, Zachary Robinson founded Dreams of Oak Ridge Students. Since then, DOORS has made tremendous impact thanks to the help of members and volunteers in the Oak Ridge community. After graduating a cohort of 3 students from a 5-week summer program, $7,500 in scholarships have been distributed.
The core of our work lies in the continuous passion and dedication we bring to mitigate college tuition and disrupting the school-to-prison pipelines nationwide. Please join us by supporting our efforts to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our students, our communities and our future generations.
What Is DOORS?
About The Founder
As a student, he passionately collaborates with his peers and professors on behalf of DOORS at any given chance. Mr. Robinson's passion for education has lead him in the direction of a brighter future.
Our Goal as a Non-Profit
Our teams short-term goals are to: raise $140,000, recruit a cohort of 3 students, and kickstart the 2nd summer program by June 16th, 2023. An absolute 3-Year goal is to reward Oak Ridge High School Graduates with over $75,000 in scholarships.
OUR MISSION
We are doing three things:
1) Mitigating College Tuition
2) Disrupting school-to-prison pipelines across the state
3)Providing affordable lawncare for lower-income
HOW WE WORK
We serve the Oak Ridge community by offering a "Pay-What-You-Can" lawncare approach. We quote your yard for $50, but you've only got $30? That's fine! That's what we are here for!
The result of this positive, social impact will be aimed toward maintaining the curb appeal of communities with lower incomes.
"Through the creation of an interconnected network of Oak Ridge Schools, neighborhoods, businesses, and churches, we will foster community engagement that will ultimately result in a brighter future for our local young adults".
